Job duties include: 1) Inspect and sort cucumbers and/or peppers by hand on conveyor belt, sorting by size, quality, and/or color; 2) Remove foreign material, debris, crooks, nubs, diseased and/or rotten cucumbers or peppers; 3) Ensure cucumbers/peppers are traveling freely down the chains; 4) Stop conveyor line if needed due to jam-ups or other problems; 5) Communicate grading line problems to the crew leader; 6) Clean tanks, cover boards, and purging tubes at beginning of season to prepare for sorting, and as needed throughout season; 7) Maintain cleanliness of sorting areas and adhere to all good manufacturing and safety policies. Most work is done outside in various weather conditions.
Additional information regarding Item F.a.5 and 6 below: Specific days and hours of work will vary depending on production volume. Typical hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. or 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. Typical work week will be 5 to 7 days per week.
