Crops/Commodities:
Hops & Apples.
This job requires a minimum of 1 month of commercial agricultural employment experience in twining hops and tractor driving, handling both manual and mechanized tasks. Applicants must be able to furnish verbal or written statement establishing relevant prior work experience. Workers must be able to perform manual and mechanized tasks with accuracy and efficiency. Tractor Driving:
Workers will use power equipment, including, but not limited to, tractors, planters, mowers, sprayers, cultivators, fork lifts, skid loaders. Must operate agricultural equipment safely, with or without direction.
Twining/Stringning Hops:
Workers will attach string (twine) between trellis and the ground; drive the stringing cart (tractor) while other workers tie twine. Workers may ride on farm implement cart, approximately 18 feet about the ground, hand tying twine to trellis, Use tool to place metal clip in the ground; affix string to ground; fill water tank with hop twine to make twine damp; fix any strings that come loose or need repair.
Work is done in the field for long periods of time. Workers may assist in handling product weighing up to 60 pounds and lifting to a height of 5 feet. Workers must work on their feet in bent positions for long periods of time. Work requires repetitive movements and extensive walking. Work required in fields when plants are wet with dew and rain, and may be required during light rain, snow, moderate winds, direct sun, high humidity and extreme temperatures. Temperatures in fields during working hours can range from 10 to over 100 degrees F. Workers may be required to work during occasional showers not severe enough to stop field operations. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, honeybees, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, or related chemicals may affect a workers ability to perform the job. Workers should be able to do the work required with or without reasonable accommodations.
Must wear assigned personal protective equipment when required. Must report for work daily wearing work clothing and boots or other durable foot wear. Shorts, bathing suits or other casual clothing not permitted. Workers wearing clothing inappropriate for work will not be permitted to start work.
Workers must obey all safety rules and basic instructions and be able to recognize, understand and comply with safety, pesticide warning/re-entry and other essential postings. Employer will instruct workers in the safety and operation of equipment before use. Workers must operate equipment, with or without direction, in a manner that protects operator, visitors, other workers, products, trees, crops and equipment. Failure to comply with safety requirements and operating instructions may result in termination.
Non-employees access to work sites or adjacent areas strictly prohibited. Non-working minors may not be present, adjacent to worksites, or left in vehicles during the day.
Use, possession, transfer, offer, sale or manufacture of marijuana and/or controlled substances strictly prohibited. All work sites are alcohol and drug free work places. Employees must not report for work, enter the employers property or perform service while under the influence of or having used alcohol, marijuana, illegal controlled substances, or any other substance that may in any way adversely affect their alertness, coordination, reaction or safety. Employer-paid post-hire drug testing is required after a worker has an accident at work.
Clean driving record required. Must have and maintain valid, insurable drivers license.
Workers required to follow common sanitary practices at all times. Workers required to wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after using the bathroom and before entering fields for harvest activities.
