Job Duties
Normal work week is Mon-Fri 7 am - 4pm. If work is available beyond the normal workdays, the employer may offer, but not require, the worker an opportunity for additional hours. Worker may be required to work in the fields when leaves are wet with dew or rain and should have suitable clothing for conditions which include light rain and temperatures ranging from 30 degrees to more than 100 degrees. Workers may be subject to dusty conditions hauling hay. Workers should be able to stand, bend, stoop walk and lift 80 pounds up to 40 feet high for prolonged periods of time and must be physically fit and able to perform the duties described. Workers will be trained for a period of 2 days (16 hours) after which the worker will be expected to cut 50 sticks of dark tobacco per hour. CARE MUST BE EXERCISED AT ALL TIME TO PREVENT BRUISING OR BREAKING TOBACCO PLANTS AND LEAVES. CARE MUST ALSO BE EXERCISED IN USING TOBACCO KNIFE, SPEAR AND WHILE CLIMBING AND STANDING ON BARN RAILS.
Tools and Equipment: The employer will furnish, without charge, all tools supplies and equipment required in the performance of the specified work.
