Job Duties
Job duties will include assisting with planting, tillage, irrigation, cultivation, chemical or fertilizer application, harvesting and delivery to packaging and/or processing facilities, for all crops using farm equipment such as tractors, combines, cotton pickers, mowers, semi-trucks, sprayers, and other large farm equipment. Job will also require the following: loading seed into planters properly and operating equipment to plant cotton, soybeans, and wheat; participating in irrigation activities including laying pipe, setting up and operating irrigation equipment and clearing and maintaining irrigation ditches; walking soybean and cotton fields to check on and maintain adequate water supply to crops; chopping grass and weeds out of fields; hauling grain from fields to grain bins; loading and unloading grain into trucks while keeping grain level; general maintenance, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, pivot points, buildings, fences, gates, barns and all farm equipment; loading harvested products; using hand tools such as shovels trowels, hoes, tampers, knives, grain scoops and brooms; loading cotton bales; picking up and loading loose cotton; hand chopping and rouge cotton; ensuring that operational areas are organized and well maintained; operating tractors, tractor drawn machinery and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray, and harvest soybeans, cotton, and wheat; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, machinery and specialized machinery; There are few typical days and a farm laborer may be required to change duties and/or locations often, and engage in various general functions. Increase or bonus may be possible depending on experience and merit.
